The Ordinary Men Who Changed History
Forgotten Soldiers tells the gripping stories of 15 unsung military heroes, none ranked higher than major, whose deeds changed the course of important battles and, arguably, history.
Brian Moynahan, author of The Russian Century, has created a compelling narrative. It ranges from earliest antiquity to the late twentieth century, from Stalingrad to the deeps of the North Atlantic, and includes individuals as diverse as a medieval squire and an Israeli reservist. Read about Sergeant Darnard, whose capture of men and documents in 1918 led to the thwarting of a German attack that could have altered the course of WWI. Learn how Major Falkenhahn delayed the Russian advance on Berlin so that German troops and civilians could surrender to the Anglo-Americans, rather than fall into Soviet hands.
Looking at well-known military conflicts from an unusual angle, this book shows how the courage, intelligence or luck of one person – sometimes firing just a single shot – can change history.

nteresting stories of relatively unknown soldiers
This book tells the stories of several soldiers from history who had a big impact in there time but have for various reasons never really been recognised. Not heavy on facts more personal and so an easy read. Enjoyed it.
