A Dark Wizard

In this outstanding debut novel, the first of a new trilogy, prepare to be transported into the dark and complex mind of a wizard. This exciting new writing talent will appeal to fans of Trudi Canavan and Robin Hobb.
‘I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during day. I have talked to Gods, loved women, and written songs that make the minstrels weep. My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me.'
This is the tale of the most notorious wizard ever to walk the earth.
Told in his own voice, Kvothe describes a childhood spent with a travelling troupe of magicians before finding himself alone, a near-feral orphan in a crime-filled city. Kvothe wins a place at a dangerous school of magic where he strives to learn more about the Chandrian demons of legend who murdered his family. In this superlative coming-of-age story, follow his mystical adventures as an accomplished thief, a dragon-slayer - and a deadly assassin.

Fantastic
This book is wonderful. I was so impressed with it I took my time. The main character is engaging and facinating and the story is extremely fluid. A must have.

Absolutely brilliant
I literally couldn''t put this down, so probably don't start reading it if you have deadlines coming up! The book is mostly written in the first person with a main character who is brilliant, quirky and funny. Rothfuss manages to handle major tragedy and comic incidents both without ever failing to engage the reader. This book will appeal to fans of Scott Lynch and Raymond E Feist.

Brilliant
A really good read with interesting characters and a good storyline. Enough suspense left at the end of the book to be an irritant. Has all the hallmarks of a classic epic. The next installment can''t arrive soon enough.

Fantasy at its best
This debut by Patrick Rothfuss is a superb first part to a hopefully incredible series of books. Well written and a rivetting read the book captures your imagination and is very difficult to put down definately not a Tolkien,Brooks or Feist clone, everyone from 11 plus will love it . Can't wait for the next offering.
