The ultimate guide to the ultimate sea battle
Commemorating the Bicentenary of Trafalgar, The Trafalgar Companion surpasses everything previously published on the subject - in both breadth and authority – encompassing the battle itself, the Trafalgar campaign and Nelson’s entire career.
As well as showing how the strategy was inseparable from the commander, the book provides insight into the fleets, with details on the French and Spanish officers and crew as well as the Royal Navy.Trafalgar Companion contains a wealth of background information on the ships, the naval life, seamanship, tactics, gunnery and character of command.
The 200 beautiful illustrations are a central feature of the book, and include portraits of the ships, paintings of the uniforms, maps and stage-by-stage battle plans, which supplement the fascinating narrative constructed around Nelson’s life and campaigns. Covers: The fight with the Ca Ira Battle of St Vincent The attack on Santa Cruz Battles of the Nile and Copenhagen Nelson’s funeral

Enjoyable compelling naval warfare in XIXth centur
For those who are interested in ship and/or warfare in the
XIXth century this is for you.
Adkin did a better work than his Watrloo. This i a
masterpiece without any doubt. This is a complete work,
well written, entertaining (graphs, drawings in colours of
ship and military staff). Actually, the most interesting part
is battles described before trafalgar and the whole
description of the technical attributes of a ship and skills of
hose who faught for te right cause! As French buyer, I
really enjoyed it. Adkin did an impartial work. thank you
for this.
